LED Controller
Choose the right controller for dimming, tunable white, RGB, RGBW, RGB+CCT, SPI pixel, DMX512 and Art-Net LED lighting. MSHLED helps match the controller, power supply, signal protocol and LED strip as one complete system.
An LED controller is the link between the user and the lighting system. It can receive commands from a handheld remote, wall panel, mobile app, sensor, computer, lighting console or building-control network, then translate those commands into dimming, color-channel or digital pixel signals.
Controller selection starts with the LED strip itself. A single-color strip needs a different output from a CCT, RGB, RGBW or RGB+CCT strip. Addressable products such as WS2811, WS2812B, WS2815, SK6812, UCS2904 and TM1814 require compatible digital data and the correct IC setting. For larger installations, DMX512 or Art-Net may be used to distribute control across multiple zones, decoders or output ports.

How to Choose the Right LED Controller
Choosing by remote appearance alone often leads to the wrong controller. Start with the electrical and signal requirements, then choose the user interface.
For power planning, read How to Choose a Power Supply for Your LED Strip Project. For cable routing and parallel feeds, see the LED strip wiring guide.
Wireless RF and Smart Control System
Wireless control is ideal when the project needs convenient operation without running a control cable from every user interface to every receiver. RF remotes are practical for local rooms and zones, while Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and gateway-based systems add mobile-app functions.
RF Remote Control
RF systems can control lighting without direct line of sight. Depending on the product series, one remote may operate a single receiver, several synchronized receivers or multiple zones. This is useful for bedrooms, cabinets, retail shelves, bars, display cases and small commercial interiors.
App and Gateway Control
Mobile control can add scene storage, timers, color selection, effect speed and music functions. Before ordering, confirm whether the controller works through direct Wi-Fi, a local router, Bluetooth, a separate gateway or a cloud platform.
Single-Color and CCT LED Controllers
Single-Color Dimming Controllers
A single-color controller normally uses one PWM output channel to adjust the brightness of white, warm white, red, blue or another fixed-color LED strip. Available interfaces can include an inline knob, touch remote, wall panel, push switch, RF remote or smart app.
CCT Tunable-White Controllers
A CCT controller independently adjusts warm-white and cool-white channels. It allows users to move from warm, relaxing light to cooler, clearer task light while also controlling brightness. Confirm whether the strip uses common-positive wiring, common-negative wiring or a special two-wire control method.
Suitable products include single-color LED strips and tunable-white LED strips. MSHLED can match the controller with the strip voltage, wattage and required zones.
RGB, RGBW and RGB+CCT Controllers
Analog RGB-family controllers regulate several PWM channels at the same time. All LEDs connected to the same output display the same color, which makes this system straightforward for cove lighting, furniture, signs and room decoration.
RGB Controller
Three output channels mix red, green and blue. Typical functions include static colors, brightness control, fade, jump, strobe and speed adjustment.
RGBW Controller
RGBW adds a separate white channel. It provides a more useful white output than mixing RGB alone and is suitable for projects that need both decorative color and everyday white illumination.
RGB+CCT Controller
Five output channels control RGB plus warm white and cool white. This gives the broadest analog control range, but the controller, remote and strip must all support the same five-channel wiring.

SPI Addressable LED Controllers
SPI controllers are used with digital addressable LED strips. Instead of changing the whole strip together, the controller sends data to individual pixels or pixel groups. This creates running water, chasing, rainbow, meteor, text, image and programmed animation effects.
Compatibility depends on the LED IC, data-line format, color order, voltage, pixel quantity and frame-rate requirement. Some ICs use a single DATA line, while clocked products such as APA102 or SK9822 use DATA and CLK.
SP002E Mini SPI Controller
A compact three-button controller for small addressable strip projects and basic built-in effects.
Wireless Multi-Output SPI Controller
Suitable for projects requiring RF or app operation and several synchronized pixel-strip outputs.
For an overview of compatible digital strip types, visit the addressable LED strip page. You can also download the SC SPI controller specification.
DMX512 LED Control System
DMX512 is widely used for professional entertainment, architectural and commercial lighting. A typical system contains a console or software master, DMX cable, decoders or DMX-compatible fixtures, addresses and termination at the end of the line.
Direct DMX LED Products
Some DMX LED strips and pixel fixtures receive DMX data directly. Each pixel or fixture is assigned an address, allowing it to be controlled from a console without a separate PWM decoder.
DMX Decoders
A decoder converts DMX512 into PWM output for single-color, CCT, RGB, RGBW or RGB+CCT strips, or into SPI data for addressable strips. Select the output channel count and current rating according to the connected load.
Project Planning
For reliable operation, plan address allocation, universe count, cable topology, signal isolation, repeaters and power distribution before installation. For SPI conversion, see the DMX512-SPI decoder specification.
Art-Net and Ethernet Pixel Controllers
Art-Net transports DMX-style control data over Ethernet. It is appropriate for pixel installations that require many universes, centralized software, media-server output, synchronized architectural scenes or long network distribution between control locations.
Art-Net to DMX / SPI Controller
For network-based control with lighting software and professional show systems.
M5 12-Port Art-Net Pixel Controller
A multi-port controller for larger addressable LED strip and pixel projects.
Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and Music Controllers
App controllers are useful for homes, shops, gaming rooms, KTV spaces and temporary installations where the user wants fast access to color, brightness, speed, scenes or music effects. The app, operating system and network requirements should be checked before installation.
SP108E Wi-Fi Pixel Controller
Smartphone control for a wide range of addressable LED ICs, with built-in dynamic color modes.
LC Series Wi-Fi Music Controller
Designed for addressable color effects with app functions, music response and custom playback modes.
Sensors, Repeaters and Control Accessories
Sensors and Automatic Switching
Motion, microwave, door, touch and hand-wave sensors can switch or dim LED strips automatically. Select the sensor according to detection method, mounting position, voltage, standby behavior and required output load.
Power Repeaters
Analog PWM repeaters extend load capacity for compatible single-color, CCT, RGB, RGBW or RGB+CCT systems. The repeater receives the controller’s PWM signal but uses its own power input to drive an additional LED load.
SPI Splitters and Signal Amplifiers
Digital splitters duplicate an SPI signal for synchronized branches. They are useful when several addressable strips must display the same effect. For long or complex systems, verify signal distance, ground reference, cable type and amplifier placement.

LED Controller FAQs
What is an LED controller?
An LED controller receives commands from a remote, wall panel, app, computer, sensor, or lighting console and converts them into dimming, color, or digital data signals for the connected LED lights.
Do all LED strips need a controller?
Single-color strips can operate directly from a compatible power supply at full brightness. A controller is needed when you want dimming, color-temperature adjustment, RGB color mixing, pixel effects, scenes, zoning, scheduling, or smart control.
How do I match a controller to an LED strip?
Check the strip type first: single color, CCT, RGB, RGBW, RGB+CCT, SPI addressable, or DMX512. Then match voltage, channel count, wiring, protocol, current capacity, and control method.
Can a 24V controller control a 12V LED strip?
Only when the controller has a wide input range that includes 12V and the power supply is 12V. The controller does not convert the supply voltage; the LED strip, controller, and power supply must operate at compatible voltages.
What is the difference between RGB and addressable RGB controllers?
A normal RGB controller changes the entire strip together through three PWM color channels. An addressable controller sends digital data so individual pixels or pixel groups can display different colors and effects.
What is the difference between SPI and DMX512?
SPI is commonly used between a pixel controller and addressable LED strips over short data runs. DMX512 is a professional control protocol used for lighting networks, consoles, decoders, and synchronized installations.
When should I use Art-Net?
Art-Net is useful when a project needs many DMX universes, Ethernet distribution, computer control, media-server integration, or a large number of addressable pixels.
Can one remote control several LED controllers?
Many RF systems support zone grouping and multiple receivers. Pairing capacity and synchronization depend on the specific controller and remote, so verify the product manual before planning the zones.
Why does my LED strip show the wrong colors?
The channel order may not match the controller output, the RGB sequence may be configured incorrectly, or wiring may be reversed. For pixel strips, also confirm the selected IC type and color order.
Why does the far end of the strip become dim?
The most common cause is voltage drop. Use suitable wire size, shorter runs, parallel feeds, or power injection, and keep the controller within its rated current.
Can I use a power repeater with an LED controller?
Yes, for compatible analog PWM systems. A repeater reproduces the controller output and provides additional load capacity from a suitable power supply. It does not normally increase the pixel count of a digital SPI signal.
How many pixels can one controller operate?
The limit depends on the model, IC type, frame rate, number of output ports, and effect complexity. Check the controller specification rather than using one universal pixel figure.
Can Wi-Fi controllers work without the internet?
Some models can work in direct access-point or local-network mode, while cloud features may require internet access. Confirm the operating mode of the selected controller.
Can LED controllers be installed outdoors?
Use an outdoor-rated controller or install the controller inside a suitable weatherproof enclosure. Also protect cable entries, connectors, power supplies, and data lines.
What information should I send for a controller quotation?
Send the LED strip model or IC, voltage, total length, LEDs or pixels per meter, number of zones, control method, project layout, maximum cable distance, indoor or outdoor location, and required effects.
